Art Club
Art Club is open to all interested students grades 9-12 who enjoy creating and want to be involved in an after school activity. We will be working on various projects, both two and three-dimensional. Students can give input as to the projects and activities we will be doing. Possibilities might include: murals, field trips, sculptures, drawing, painting, jewelry making, book-making, etc. For more information see Mrs. Riddle and listen for announcements for meeting dates.

Book Club
The Book Club is open to all students in grades 9-12 who enjoy reading and discussing novels. Meetings are held every two weeks from 2:15-3:15 in the Mehlville High School Library. Books are selected based on valid reviews, award lists, and member input. Students are responsible for getting their own book; however, Mrs. Gerwitz will do her best to locate books at local libraries. Cheerleading
Cheerleading is a spirit group that divides students into three levels: Varsity (consists of seniors and juniors), Junior Varsity (consists of sophomores) and Freshmen Squads (consists of freshmen). Tryouts are held in February. Students are required to have a physical and parent permission form on file with the Athletic Office. Squad members should expect two practices per week and two-three games per week. Summer practices are held early in the morning Monday-Saturday starting in June. Dance Team
The Pantherettes are for students in grade 9-12 who are interested in dance. Tryouts are held in the spring and we practice almost all year-round. We attend camp in the summer, dance for football games in the fall and have competitions and dance at basketball games in the winter. For more information see Ms. Sarah Roth.

DECA, An Association of Marketing Students
DECA is a national association of marketing students. This is a co-curricular marketing club that is involved in leadership development, community services, skill assessment, and academic skill development. Students participate in an academic competition annually with an opportunity to advance to both a state and national level. Other activities include designing t-shirts, various fun events, DECA week, and events with other local schools. Several opportunities for leadership training are offered throughout the year. Drama Club
Drama Club is for students in grades 9-12 who have an interest in any of the aspects of Theatre production. We produce two plays a year. we need students to act, direct, build sets, hang lights, design make-up, collect or make costumes, gather props, usher and create posters, programs, etc. We meet once a month. FBLA, Future Business Leaders of America
FBLA is a vocational organization for those students interested in business. It is a co-curricular business club involved in leadership development, community service, skill assessment, and academic skill development. The organization's goal is to bring business and education together. Students participate in academic competition annually with an opportunity to advance to both a state and national level. Other activities include FBLA week, events with other local schools and various fun events. It allows for leadership roles, career development, scholarships opportunities, and participation in service, civic, and school projects. Students must be enrolled in a Business class. French Club
French Club meets monthly and is open to any student interested in the French language and culture. Our activities include cooking, music, field trips, games and watching films. French Club makes an annual visit (along with German and Spanish Clubs) to the Green Park Nursing Home to sing holiday songs. German Club
German Club is open to all students, who are interested in German languages and culture, and who like to pursue these interests with other friendly, fun-loving students. German Club assists the Mehlville Lions' Club and the Mehlville Mothers' Club in their activities in fundraising for their charitable projects. International Thespian Society
International Thespian Society is an interesting association of High School Theatre. Mehlville is one of thousands of Thespian Troupes worldwide. Although many students who are in Drama Club do eventually become Thespians, not all do. Students are inducted into the society after they have completed 100 hours of work in the Theatre program. Inducted Thespans are invited to attend a state Thespian Conference at different locations across the state, where they meet other Theatre students, see statewide productions and audition for scholarships. Mehlville Majorettes Twirling Club
The Mehlville Majorettes Twirling Club is an auditioned twirling line representing Mehlville Senior High School. The line provides half-time entertainment at select athletic events, school events, parades and competitions. Tryouts will be held in April. For more information contact Mrs. Pudlowski.

National Honor Society
National Honor Society is open to all students in their junior or senior year who meet four core requirements. The requirements are based on scholarship, service, character and leadership. Students in NHS exemplify positive role models for the entire school body. Activities sponsored by NHS include the district-wide implementation of the Shoebox Project every Christmas and fundraising Volleyball Tournament in the spring. Paws 'N Peace
The Paws 'N Peace club is comprised of students 9-12 who believe in maintaining a safe and drug-free campus. Club members create activities and invite guest speakers that remind and educate the student body about the dangers of drug use, smoking cigarettes, drinking and driving and keeping our schools violence free. This is an exciting opportunity for students to be imaginative in developing clear minds, clean hearts and lasting friendships. Skills USA
Skills USA is a vocational organization for those students who are involved in the Information Technology program. It is a co-curricular organization, which meets during school hours. Student members of the Skills USA will develop leadership skills, pride in work well done and high standards of technical ability, scholarship and safety. IT allows for leadership roles, career development, participation in service, civic and school projects, In addition, students will be encouraged to compete in various technology events both state and nation wide. Spanish Club
Spanish Club, El Circulo de Espanol, is open to any student taking a Spanish class at MHS. Our club activities include exploring and promoting various aspects of Hispanic culture-- music, dance, history, food and film. We participate in service activities, entertaining at a senior retirement home, Spanish Achievement Night and fundraising. We usually meet monthly, on a Wednesday. Speech and Debate
Students in Speech and Debate have the opportunity to compete in a variety of events suited to their interests and strengths. It's also a great opportunity for students to enhance and improve in areas of public speaking. Mehlville competes in the Greater St. Louis Speech League (GSL) throughout first semester. The team also competes in various tournaments put on by schools throughout the St. Louis area year-round. The events that students can compete in range from Public Speaking, Interpretation, and Debate. Public Speaking events include Original Oratory, Radio Broadcasting, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Interpretation events include Poetry Reading, Prose Reading, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, and Student Congress. Debate events include Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Policy Debate, and Public Forum Debate. The team is open to any student. Student Council
Student Council is for students in grades 9-12 who are interested in being involved in student-school decisions, community involvement and school spirit. Some of our activities include Blood Drive, Variety Show, Winter Dance, Mr. Mehlville, Teacher and Staff appreciation activities, Canned Food Drives and support for other clubs and organizations at Mehlville. Student Prints
Student Prints is the award-winning, informative school newspaper run by students in the journalism class at MHS. Students interested in taking the class must currently have a "B" in English class, be of sophomore status (during 2010-2011school year) and have a written recommendation from their English teacher. Teenage Health Consultant Program
Teenage Health Consultant Program is coordinated through the St. Louis County Department of Health. Students are recommended to be consultants because of high academic standing, excellent attendance record and high standard of conduct. Students must also be able to make classroom presentations on the topics of healthy decision-making, conflict management, drugs and alcohol, and dating issues. TREND, Turning Resources and Energy in New Directions
TREND is for students in grades 9-12 who have an interest in pursuing healthy alternatives for life. Students involved in TREND help to sponsor Red Ribbon Week to increase awareness of the negative aspects of drug and alcohol use. Meetings occur once a month or as needed. Vocal Music
Vocal Music includes five auditioned honor ensembles that meet within the school day - Concert Choir Mixed 1, Concert Chorale, Concert Choir Treble, Show Choir, and Women's Chamber Choir. Two non-auditioned chorus classes are also held during the school day, one for women and one for men. On Wednesday after school, from 2:15-4:15, the Mixed Chamber meets. This smaller auditioned ensemble travels and performs at public functions and events in addition to the regular concert season. This ensemble meets only after school and during specific TAP times. The Reflector Yearbook
The Reflector Yearbook staff creates the school's yearbook as well as a DVD supplement. Students create the cover, take the pictures and videotape school events, write the captions and produce the layouts for the yearbook and DVD on computers in the yearbook class. Students interested in being on the yearbook staff should get an application from Miss Lowry in Room 106.

Youth In Government
Youth In Government provides students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and experience democracy. Based on the motto "Democracy Must Be Learned By Each Generation", YIG is a statewide educational program that involves over 700 Missouri youth each year in various programs. These include our Model Government Program (State Convention), Executive Branch Leadership Institute, YMCA Advocacy Day, and Conference on National Affairs. The purpose of Missouri YMCA Youth In Government is to prepare students for responsible leadership in the American democratic process by providing guidance, training, and experience in the theory and practice of determining public policy.
